My father got me into woodworking from an early age on and never ran out of new ideas about what we could build. In order to explain my woodworking ideas clearly, I had to sit down and draw. Wooden toy plans were just flowing out of me. We built a big castle together which would house my Playmobil figures. It even had a little secret chamber to store my valuable pocket money. Later on we expanded it and build big city walls and 2 ½ foot watchtower.
One day I came up with a bunch of playhouse plans. Unfortunately they were all a bit over the top, so we settled for a wooden swing. We built it and installed it in the garden. Me and friends loved it. Even now after 25 years it is still standing.
I continued doing small wood projects until now. Small wooden horses for the girlfriends, board games, interior design accessories, a wooden birdhouse and so on.
There are a lot of resources, paid and free, good and bad. If you want to save yourself time and frustration, you simply need to have the right plans, tools and materials. I would even go so far and say that having the right woodshop plans are the best guarantee to achieve the results you are looking for and it most certainly makes sure that you don’t loose material. Hey, nice wood is expansive these days.
Right now, am searching the web for proper bed, table and shelf plans. I even thought about making a wooden sofa and maybe a rocking chair. I’ll let you know how it goes.
